Classic car projects and renovations in Penarth, South Glamorgan

The core of Lavernock Road Service Station is servicing and repairs of all makes of cars, MOTs and body shop work, including insurance and customer based work.

Over recent years, our passion for cars has led to carrying out partial or complete restoration and renovation projects for customers and ourselves.

Some of the projects we have taken on are:

Mitsubishi Evo 2 - we have been using and developing this car for the past four years. We have painstakingly developed the car from its original rally car base, with the goal being performance and reliability. With us the car has competed in fourteen rallies without failure. This has all been achieved with meticulous attention to detail, which extends into our day to day workshop practices.

Sunbeam Lotus - this was a car we completed after the original owner had abandoned the rally car conversion some twenty years earlier. We completed the shell, suspension, brakes and safety requirements for international rallying. We then painted the car in the works colours of the period. The car now resides in the Isle of Man where it is used regularly in historic rallies.

Triumph Spitfire - as a result of our reputation for meticulous work, the owners of the Spitfire brought their pride and joy to us for refurbishment. It came as a very rusty but useable car. The panels that we were unable to purchase were manufactured by our workshop craftsman. We carried out a nut and bolt strip and a renovation/refurbishment. The car, when completed was to Concours standards, and has now been shipped to Australia by the owners, who couldn't bear to be parted from it.

Mini Cooper 'S' - this was a long standing customer's car who had retired from driving. We purchased it and set about a complete restoration, carrying out a total nut, bolt and panel strip and rebuild, the project involved everyone in the workshop, as cars are a passion of the entire team. Again, upon completion the Concours vehicle was sold to a collector in the South East of England.

RS2000 - one of the true classics of motor sport in the '70s and '80s, originally. In the last decade they have become popular again. This is a rolling shell we completed, for international historic rallying. The car is currently awaiting its first competition with its new owner.
